Diet and Exersice...and my sugar addiction

If you new me personally, one thing you would definitely know is that I'm an addict...a SUGAR addict. I love candy, cookies, cake, ice-cream...anything sweet. Mmmmmm.... But lately I've been feeling my addiction creeping up on my waist line and I'm NOT liking it. So, today I made the decision to make a new start.  Also, my family, my boyfriend, and I will be heading to the Caribbean in January and I should start thinking about beach photos ;)

Now, I'm not obese in any capacity, but as of late I have not been feeling my best physically. I have been feeling lethargic and having no energy. I am going to start exercising daily and experimenting with some new healthy foods and recipes! So if you would be interested in reading my regular posts , or even better, joining me on my journey, then follow me for daily updates! If anyone else is interested in joining me leave me a comment :)

In my next post I will reveal my starting stats, my plan of action, and my goals.

Beauty TAG... YOUR IT!

Beauty Tag

One of the blogs that I love to read  MollyVouge (check her out!!) did this tag and I thought it was fun so I decided to do it too! I invite anyone else to do it as well!

1.Would you rather walk around all day with you skirt tucked in your underwear or be seen wearing a really see through dress?

Defiantly be caught wearing a see through dress. I def don't want my bare bum flying in the wind for all to see lol
2.Would you rather go to a party and not realize until the end of the night that you have lipstick on your teeth or that your fake lashes are coming unglued?
I would rather have a bit of lipstick on my teeth. dangling falsies is worse in my opinion
3.Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side of your face?
I would rather forget mascara, since I have quite dark lashes already
4.Would you rather wear the clashing lipstick/lipliner combo or the frosty blue eyeshadow?
Blue eyeshadow. I HATE dark lipliner. ew.
5.Would you rather wear foundation that is two shades too light or go way overboard on bronzer?
tough one, but I would have to say lighter foundation... as long as I blended it the best i could into my neck
6.Would you rather drink an entire bottle of ketchup or run into the guy who broke your heart on a bad hair day when your skin is freaking out?
I would rather run into the guy. Although, I'm sure if this situation arose the ketchup would probably be sounding really good at that moment
7.Would you rather be able to date any celeb you wanted or wake up with perfect red carpet-worthy hair?
Wake up with beautiful hair. Celebs are over-rated. They are just like you and me with a few more bills in their wallet and bigger egos (most of the time)
8.Would you rather your armpits smell musky or like delicious lasagne?
hahahaha ew. Lasagna I guess...
9.Would you rather give up your makeup or cell phone for one year?

Definitely my phone. As long as I still had my computer
10.Would you rather run into a cute guy you like with food all in your grill or no makeup at all?

Food stuck in my teeth. It happens to everyone...right? :)

PS MollyVogue: grill is a North American slang term for teeth lol.

Simple evening makeup

I wore this look to Thanksgiving (In Canada) dinner to my boyfriend's parents. It was very quick, simple, and natural.

I used Tempting by MAC all over the lid and then added a little bit of Carbon in my crease

On my cheeks I wore "Blush baby" by MAC. It's a sheertone so it is a very subtle colour
Finally, on my lips I'm wearing "Blushing Coral" from Clinique with the gloss called "Amber" from Buxom on top

Favorite Perfumes

They say scent is the strongest of our senses that is attached to memory. Have you ever smelled something- a certain food, candle, perfume- and it has immediately brought you back to another time? I know this happens with me all the time. I will wear a perfume that I haven't touched since high school, and I am sent whizzing back in time.  Ahhh... the smell of awkwardness and insecurities lol :).
Anyways, I recently went through my perfumes and I have come up with my three most worn/ favorite ones in my collection that I am always reaching for. It got me to thinking, will these scents one day send someone else whizzing back in time and be reminded of me? Its crazy how the human brain works.

From Left to right:
1. Couture Couture by Juicy Couture
2. J'adore by Christian Dior
3. Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger (I need a new one of these as you can see)

Outfit of the Night

So tonight I'm going out for dinner and drinks with friends and I wanted to be casual, but still flirty. I got this dress at H&M recently and I paired it with a a taupe belt to cinch in the waist and give the dress more shape,  a leather bomber jacket and nude pumps. I love pairing soft girly pieces with a more structured piece like a jacket or a blazer. Here are a few pictures (Sorry about the blurriness, I'm still playing around with my camera settings.) Also, excuse the hair, it was up in a bun all day from work.
XOXO,
Jess

How I Saved My Frizzy Hair

The story of my hair is very long (no pun intended) and it has seen many colours of the rainbow. My hair is naturally a medium mousy brown colour and is very frizzy and easily breaks. The stands themselves are thin, although I have a lot of hair. As for the texture of my hair the easy answer would be that it is straight for the most part with random kinks, curls and frizzy bits throughout. I have gone back and forth between brown and blonde a few times, and I about a two months ago I ended a year long love affair with the blondest hair I have ever had to return to my true roots (pun intended hehe).
Now that you have heard my hair's history I have to share with you my recent hair routine that I feel has made my hair into the most beautiful hair I have ever had in my life. I have NEVER been told that my hair is shiny or healthy looking. I have always been the envious girl that walks behind the girls with the shiny hair and secretly hating her, until recently that is. Last week my best friend in the world who would never just throw a compliment my way in the name of flattery, saw me and the first thing she said was, "WOW your hair look super healthy". This of course was like telling me I looked like I had lost 10 pounds!
So, without further ad-due adieu here are my three new favorite hair care loves that I think will be with me for the long haul:

Beyond The Zone's Glam Street Glaze for Brunettes: This product is available at Sally's Beauty Supply and it is only about 10 dollars. I believe that this product is the number one reason my hair has been so shiny and healthy looking. It coats your hair while also boosting your colour. It takes my hair from being a dull brown to a more rich brown with more highlights. I LOVE this stuff!

Schwartzkop's Got2B Hottie conditioner: Next is my current favorite conditioner. I hate spending money on expensive shampoos and conditioner, so when I found this product by Schwartzkopt I was so happy. This is the hands-down best drugstore conditioner in my opinion. When I use this on my hair in the shower it feels like silk!
Finally, last but not least is a dry shampoo. The one I have been using recently is by TRESemme. The reason why I think dry shampoo is one of the reasons for my hair being so much healthier lately is because I have made a promise to myself to not wash my hair on consecutive days so my natural oils can work their magic. Now, this poses a problem for us greasy girls (ew lol) like me. Thus, on days where I must face the world on a no washing day (I only use SLS free shampoo btw) I spray this product on my roots, wait a few minutes, brush it out, and POW fresh hair.

I hope that some of these hair tips that I have found useful will help you finally find your perfect hair routine too!
XOXO
Jessica

Current Favorite Nail Polish

So this past weekend I went to the mall in search for a new nail polish. My collection was feeling a bit thin and I needed to update from my many spring/summer colours. My eye immediately was drawn to this particular colour called "You don't know Jacques" by OPI (I love their super cute and creative names!). This is the perfect fall colour that isn't just another deep red, plum, or purple. The first day I wore it I got so many compliments on it! If I had to describe it I would call it a grey-brown.

I think it is an almost perfect dupe for the extremely sought-after colour by Chanel called Particuliere...

but at the fraction of the price :)

Fall essential: the bomber

If I could suggest one new item to spruce up your fall wardrobe I would suggest a leather, or leather looking, bomber jacket. I prefer either a dark, rich brown or black, like the one pictured here. I find a bomber like this instantly pulls a casual outfit together, especially when it is paired with more feminine fabrics or patterns.

Recent Loves: Leaves and Feathers

One trend that I have been seeing a lot of this summer and coming into fall are leaf and feather detailing. I see it everywhere from on headbands, tops, necklaces, and earrings. Personally I find that I especially love this trend in jewelry pieces. They add a perfect amount of delicate femininity to an outfit- when done right of course. Here are a few pieces that I especially love which are all, or course, great deals.

Fem-rock- the perfect weekend outfit

I absolutely love this type of outfit. It is feminine mixed with a bit of masculine/rocker detailing like the black bomber jacket and the studded booties. Its a perfect weekend look or for a night out. Although, by simply switching up the bomber with a fitted blazer and the bootie with a simple ballet flat,  you can take this look from super casual to work casual.
